To begin our research and planning for this assignment, my group utilized the chart provided to us to help learn about the production company Sony Music. The first thing that we did was divided up the work. The task that I took was to research and compile the history In order to do this, I searched up on Google the history of this company along with looking at the Sony Music website to find out about the history of Sony Music. One of the more interesting facts that I learned is that in these production companies like Sony Music, there are multiple other companies within it.
Along with the brainstorming, our group had to discuss the style we wanted to portray. We believe that the band that we are trying to promote has an indie vibe to it. To come up with name I suggested the name Iris as the iris is the part of the eye that depending on the pigmentation controls your eye color. Just like the iris, music can be the avenue that provides people color and joy in their lives so that is why we picked that name. One of our group members Vanessa used Canva to help design the logo of an eye with numerous colors around it to add to that indie vibe. We then had to discuss ideas for the music video. We believe that this song is a lot of fun so we wanted that message to come across in our story. After discussing ideas, we chose to make the story of a girl who found out she got cheated on by her boyfriend and then goes a little wild and steals some lipstick from her local CVS. She ends up not getting in trouble though as she flirts with the cashier who lets her off the hook. Finally, we story boarded the video on paper and are looking forward to filming it.
Our group is very talented however, a problem for me is that I am not into the indie genre compared to my other group members so it has been difficult for me to really understand the view that my group has for this video and brand. I would try to contribute to the group despite this challenge and offer up ideas. These ideas though did not really match the ideas of my other two group members so they will not be used. This challenge has taught me an important lesson when it comes to group work. Sometimes, you need to be a follower and not always a leader. I had to learn to just listen to the ideas my group had and just go along with them because I know my group members do have great ideas and maybe I just don't understand it yet.
